How to avoid a hangover …

I love a good night out and having a drink always seems like a good idea at the time. Today I’m going to share my top tips for avoiding a hangover.

1. Stay hydrated

Alcohol makes you dehydrated and this leads to having a headache the next day. I always drink at least a pint of water before I go to bed. This doesn’t only help with a headache but with your skin as well.

2. Eat

When you get home from your night out eat something even if it’s just a slice of bread. This will help to settle your stomach and absorb some of the alcohol.

3. Take your makeup off

This doesn’t actually help with hangover symptoms but if you taken your makeup off you are more likely to feel fresh in the morning. Sometimes you make yourself feel more hungover than you actually are.

4. Take a bath or shower

A bath or shower can just be refreshing enough to help get rid of that hangover feeling and help you start your day.

These are some of the tips I use to not feel hungover! Let me know in the comments what you do.

Products I couldn’t live without !

These are some of the products that I really couldn’t function without. Some of these products I used for years and others I’ve just recently discovered.

1. Dr. Lipp nipple balm

This is a thick balm that I love to use in the evening before I go to bed however it would work just as well as an alternative to a gloss. I get very dry cracked lips and this works well to keep them hydrated.

2. Paw paw cream

This is similar to the nipple balm but comes in tinted shades. I get extremely dry patches on my neck and face, I take a bit of this balm on put it on any dry patches before bed. Both the nipple and balm and paw paw cream work very similarly but I just like to swap and change between them. I always have one of them on me!

3. Bio oil

I have used bio oil for years! I use it on my face when I feel my skin needs a boost of hydration. It also works well on the body. Not only does it help to hydrate but it also helps to even out skin tone and reduce scaring from blemishes. You can pick this up in your local supermarket, boots, Superdrug and I’ve even seen it in primark.

4. Rimmel stay matte powder

I get quite oily skin and this powder helps to keep me shine free all day. The reason I love this powder because it removes shine and leave the set and matte but it doesn’t remove glow and that’s what I love about it. This is also works really well for touch ups without making your makeup looking Cakey.

5. Collection lasting perfection concealer

I have used this concealer for years! It’s so affordable. I use the shade fair I do wish they had a bigger shade range but I can’t really complain about it for under 5 pounds. It has really good coverage and doesn’t crease beneath the eyes.

6. Mario Badescu drying lotion

If you have a blemish but this on at night and by the morning it will be gone! I use this religiously and haven’t found anything that works as well. You can buy this on beauty bay or urban outfitters

I would love to know what some of your favourite products are. Please leave them in the comments.

Easy ways to save money …

I’m always trying to save money, weather it’s to build up my savings or to buy an expensive item. These tips will help you to save a couple of pounds here and there that will soon build up.

1. Invest in a travel mug.

Buying coffee for places such as coasts and Starbucks can become very expensive. It may only seem like a couple of pounds here and there but it soon adds up. This year I got a travel mug for Christmas and make my own coffee from home. Not only does this help you safe money but it means you can make the coffee exactly how you like it.

2. Take your own lunch to work

Making your own lunch can save you a fortune. Even if your getting a meal deal it soon adds up. I try and take my own lunch at least three time a week this helps to save at least ten to fifteen pounds.

3. Make sure you cancel any unused memberships

We are all guilty of having that gym membership that we keep telling ourselves we are going to use. I cancelled my unused gym membership and saved myself thirty pounds a month. Home work outs can be just as good and saves you money. YouTube is full of work outs for every part of the body.

Let me know if you want any more tips I use to save money.

4 simple ways to improve your skin

– Apply hand cream at least twice a day. Hands are one of the first parts of our body to age. A simple way to prevent pre ageing is to keep your hands hydrated. I parent this by applying hand cream several times a day , usually after I’ve washed my hands. My favourite hand creams are from soap and glory and the body shop.

– Drink lots of water. I’m the worst for not drinking enough water, I sit at my desk all day drinking coffee but forget to drink water. Drinking water helps to hydrate the skin, reduce under eye circles and prevent tiredness. I like to use a bottle with times down the side to help encourage me to drink , hydrate m8 have a really good range.

– Always remove your makeup ! I know everyone says it but it’s so important to always take your makeup off, even if it’s with the dreaded makeup wipe. My favourite makeup types of makeup removers are balms and micellar water. Let me know if you would like to see an updated skincare routine including removing my makeup.

– Take time to understand your skin. My skin type is oily combination. Knowing your skin types allows you to buy products that are designed for your skin. This not only helps me when buying skincare items but also makeup products, I know I need a matt foundation and to always powder my face. Morphe X Jaclyn Hill

So I’m a little late to the party with this one but I’m so glad I decided to join. I asked for this palette for my birthday last week and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. The second I got this palette I swatched it up both of my arms and instantly knew that Jaclyn had really taken her time making every single one of the shades were perfect. Apart from the four bright colour in the corner, I would use all the shades. However, syaing that I’ve some amazing tutorials on youtube that have made me want to slather blue eyeshadow all over my lids.

Below I have swatched each line individually and photographed them using natural light and flash. And may I just add that these eyeshadows swatched like an absolute dream.

How To Do Well In Your A-Levels …

I collected my A-Level results in August and was over the moon with my results. I didn’t achieve straight A*’s but that wasn’t my aim. I wanted to achieve three B’s and I did much more than that. My overall results were A*, A and B.

My first tip for doing well in your A-Levels is typing up your notes every night. I would come home every night and spend an hour typing up what I had learnt that day in a format that suited me. this way when I came back to revise all my notes were neat organised and in my own words.

My second tip would be to make a timetable. I only studied three subjects so I just did 45 minutes for each subject every night. This worked well for me and allowed me to keep on top of homework as well as doing some additional revision.

Make sure you start revising early. I did revision most nights from the start of the year but I started doing serious revision around Christmas. This allowed me to feel prepared and make sure that I know everything I needed to. being well prepared helped me to reduce anxiety before my exams.

Finally don’t be afraid to ask for help. There is no need to suffer in silence if you need help all you need to do is ask. I found that asking my teachers and peers for help made me feel better and more relaxed. If you are struggling and you don’t tell anyone then they can’t help you.

If you have any other questions about A-Levels then please feel free to ask. If there are any other A-Level topics you would like to cover please feel free to ask.

Autumn Evening Routine

My evening starts around 7pm when I’ve arrived home from work.
The first thing I do when I get into the house is make myself a hot drink. At the moment I’m loving hot chocolate.

After I’ve got my drink I usually sit and talk with my family about everyone’s day and have a bit of a catch up.

By now if I’m lucky my mum has made dinner. I sit and have dinner with my family and watch some TV.

Then I head upstairs to my room . When I get in my room I light a candle and turn on my fairy lights. I’ll then either have a bath or a shower and get into my pyjamas.

I then sort out my bag and outfit for the next day. I need to get up around 6:15 am in the morning so it’s important I do as much as possible the night before.

I then see if I have any work that needs doing for my apprentice, before heading down stairs . If I have work todo I will sit in the living room and do it whilst watching television. I love to watch Corrie !

Finally I’ll head back upstairs and get ready for bed. I’ll do my skincare routine, brush my teeth and get into bed. When I’m in bed I like to watch YouTube videos on either my laptop or iPad. Check out my blog post of my favourite youtubers to see who I’ve been watching.

Life update …

Hi everyone ,

I thought it was time I updated you with what’s happening in my life. As most of you are aware I stopped using my blogs for a few months whilst I was completing my A levels. I knew that I couldn’t do both at the quality I wanted, so I had to prioritise and for me my A levels came first. But now I’m back ! And more motivated than ever.

I’ve chosen not to go to university for several reasons and instead I’m starting an apprenticeship. It will be a challenge to blog , work full time and complete qualifications but it’s a challenge I’m willing to accept .

I’ve always had a passion for beauty and my blog is the perfect way to stay interested in makeup whilst working towards my apprenticeship. I love beauty so much and it’s a big part of my life and my blog is the way that I love to share my passion.

If you’d like to know why a chose an apprenticeship or advice on applying for an apprenticeship just let me know in the comments or on my Twitter.

My Primark Essentials …

When I go to primark , which to be honest with you is far too often , there some items that I always pick up.

The first thing is face wipes. Primark sell face wipes in a pack of two for £1.00. I try not to use face wipes everyday but they are handy to have around. I use them when I’m doing my makeup to clean my hands and any spillages as well as occasionally taking my makeup off. I know you can pick up face wipes pretty much anywhere but I love the Primark ones.

Second on my essentials list is cotton pads. Primark sell these in a pack for 50p. I use them to take my makeup off and tone my face. The Primark ones work wonders and are as cheap as chips. I very rarely use any other cotton pads.

I always pick a pack of fluffy socks. I am a really cold person so I normally have a pair of fluffy socks on. They are cheap , last well and most importantly keep me warm. I wear them around the house and when I’m wearing boots. I have a whole draw full in my house.

Finally I always pick up some pyjamas. I know this isn’t really an essential but I love pyjamas and I wear them every night, therefore I can justify buying more. I love that Primark usually have Disney ones and they are very affordable. I probably have too many but it keeps me happy.

I’d love to know what your Primark essentials are, let me know in the comments or on twitter.

Thanks for reading !
